Oshiomhole’s aide denies petitioning ‎EFCC against Deputy Gov

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State
The cold war between Governor Adams Oshiomhole and his peputy, Dr. Pius Odubu, took a new twist on Tuesday with the State Commissioner for Energy and Water Resources, Mr Washington Osifo, denying allegations that his boss, Governor Oshiomhole, directed him to write a petition against Dr. Odubu to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The deputy governor was said to have during a peace meeting with the Governor alleged that he allegedly masterminded a petition against him with a view to impeach him.
Oshiomhole also at the meeting, was said to have alleged that his deputy hired the services of native doctors to kill him, a claim Odubu denied.
‎Osifo, while addressing journalists in Benin, described the allegation as a calculated attempt to smear his reputation.
“Sometimes in March I heard that the deputy governor accused me of writing a petition against him, I asked him but he said he never believed that. But I was shocked to hear that during a peace meeting recently the deputy governor reiterated that allegation.
“And I read his denial as regards using native doctors to kill the Comrade Governor but the issue of EFCC where I was accused was not denied.
“I am embarrassed and traumatised by the statement credited to the deputy governor against my person because it never happened.
“The most worrisome part in this matter is the fact that it also touches on the character of the Comrade Governor as it is a falsehood that he directed Hon Henry Idahagbon and myself to write the petition against the deputy governor”, Osifo said.
