'Even when Barca win a trophy they talk about me, right or wrong they always think about me' - Cristiano Ronaldo taunts Barcelona

'Even when Barca win a trophy they talk about me, right or wrong they always think about me' - Cristiano Ronaldo taunts Barcelona

Cristiano Ronaldo was flattered by Barcelona's Gerard Pique's mimicking when Barca celebrated their La Liga win and has taunted them by saying they always talk about him even when they win.
Pique played alongside Ronaldo at Manchester United, winning a Premier League and Champions League double in the 2007-08 season but taunted the Portuguese football star by copying Ronaldo's pose from an infamous post match picture.
When Ronaldo was asked about pique in an interview with La Sezta's Jugones, he said;
' Even when they win a trophy they talk of Cristiano. Right or wrong they think of Cristiano and talk about me, but I have no problem with Pique.

Ronaldo also said that while he was disappointed not to win the European Golden Shoe award, he felt that Luis Suarez was deserving.

The Barcelona striker scored a remarkable 40 league goals for the La Liga champions -- five more than rival Ronaldo, who won the prize last season.
"That is part of it, of course I am frustrated but I wasn't obsessed," he said. "I let things flow this year. Suarez played very well. He scored eight goals in two games. He had an excellent season and he deserved it."

Read Louis Van Gaal's emotional statement after Man U sack him

The Dutchman was sacked tonight by Manchester United after performing below expectations at the club and after the club released its sack statement on it's official website, LVG released his own statement where he thanked the club for giving him the opportunity to lead it and also wished the club well in the future. Read the emotional statement after the cut...

It has been an honour to manage such a magnificent club as Manchester United FC, and in doing so, I have fulfilled a long-held ambition. I am immensely proud to have helped United win the FA Cup for the 12th time in the club's history. I have been privileged during my management career to have won 20 trophies but winning the FA Cup, which is steeped in so much history, will always be one of the most special achievements of my career. I am very disappointed to be unable to complete our intended three-year plan.
I believe that the foundations are firmly in place to enable the club to move forward and achieve even greater success. I hope that winning the FA Cup will give the club a platform to build upon next season to restore the success that this passionate set of fans desire. Having managed in Holland, Spain and Germany, I had always hoped for the opportunity to manage in English football and be part of English culture. Both of these experiences have lived up to expectations and been fantastic. I thank my players and wish them well for next season. It has been a pleasure to work with them and it has been particularly rewarding to see so many young players take their chance to break into the first team and excel. I look forward to watching the continued development of these young players next season. Thank you to the owners and board of Manchester United for giving me the opportunity to manage this great club. I would also like to express my gratitude to the amazing United supporters. They are truly the best fans in the world.
I am indebted to my support and coaching staff, who have given me their all during their time at the club. I am deeply grateful to each and every member of the club’s staff - the sports science team, the medical team, the kit and laundry department, club administration, the press office, the manager's team, the Academy team, ground staff and the catering team, both at Old Trafford stadium and Carrington training ground, all of whom have given me their unwavering support in my time at United. Never in my 25 years as a manager have I been so well supported in my role. Finally, my special thanks go to Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton for always making me and my family feel so welcome throughout my time as Manchester United manager.

Crystal Palace 1-2 Man U (10 men Man United defeat Palace to give Van Gaal first trophy)

Crystal Palace 1-2 Man U (10 men Man United defeat Palace to give Van Gaal first trophy)

These are the epic moments the United fans craved for.  The pulsating moments that defined the Sir Alex Ferguson era!

Man U defeated an energetic Crystal Palace side 2-1 to give Van Gaal his first taste of trophy,  even though that might not be enough to keep him at the club.

Man United scored an extra time winner to beat Crystal Palace in the final at Wembley tonight after defender Chris Smalling was given a red card for maliciously holding onto Bolasie while on the counter.

Goals from Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard were enough to give Man U it's first trophy since Alex Ferguson retired.
It was the first time Wayne Rooney had won the FA Cup despite being at Man U for over 10 years and rightly so as his good footwork was responsible for Man U's first goal scored by Juan Mata.

Van Gaal by this time tomorrow might not be Man U's coach according to reports this evening from England,  but he will surely be happy to leave with his head held high.

Senegalese UN diplomat Fatma Samoura was named FIFA's new secretary General by FIFA president Gianni Infantino today in Mexico, during FIFA's 66th International congress.

Fatma Samoura currently lives in Nigeria and was appointed personally by Infantino today at the 66th FIFA Congress according to FIFA statues. Her appointment will make her the first female number two ever at world football's governing body, FIFA.

Infantino says she was appointed as he aims to promote values such as Gender equality, zero-tolerance for racism and corruption with new leadership as he begins his tenure as FIFA President.

The former secretary general, Jerome Valcke of France, was sacked in January and banned from football for 12 years over misconduct in television deals and World Cup ticket sales, one of the many scandals that hit FIFA.
Markus Kattner has been acting as the Secretary General since Infantino was elected as president back in February.

'No disrespect to Nigerian coaches, but we need a foreign coach'- Former Super Eagles player Sam Sodje says

Former Super Eagles player Sam Sodje has urged the Nigerian Football Federation to go ahead with plans to employ a foreign coach as the local coaches haven't proven themselves when called upon.

Samuel Okeremute Sodje who was a former Nigerian professional footballer who played as a defender for the Super Eagles and was Born in England to Nigerian parents, said the NFF shouldn't employ a foreign coach just for the sake of his skin color but because of the coaches' capacity and tactical nous.

"I won't really want to say foreign coach is what the Eagles need, but I think the rate at which the team is declining, a foreign coach might be what we should consider at this point, no disrespect to our home-grown coaches but not just a foreign coach that is needed just because he's got a different skin colour, but a proven and good one, someone who has the credentials to speak for him,” said Sodje to AfricanFootball.

“If NFF are not ready for such coach, there is no need to get a foreign coach."

"No disrespect to Nigerian coaches, but the fact remains we really lack a top-grade manager,” he said.

"There are so many things they can do to improve themselves, though administrators still have a big part to play in this.' the former Super Eagles player said to AfricanFootball.

"The sad thing is that the few local coaches I have met think they know everything and then they stop learning."

Former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho returned to the dug-out on Wednesday evening to coach, but it certainly wasn't Man U and he lost 8-9 as he continues to be linked with moves to Manchester United, China and Indonesia.

Jose Mourinho coached a FIFA Legends team, featuring Ronaldinho and Luis Figo, against a Mexican All-stars side but his team lost 8-9 in a charity match at the Azteca Stadium organised by FIFA President Gianni Infantino to foster world peace, reduce racism and promote inter-cultural values.

The former Chelsea coach was all smiles during the match and assured the media he will be back to coaching in two months time.
