A three year old boy was attacked and bitten by a stray dog (lurcher-type hound) as he walked alongside his dad. The boy was immediately rushed to hospital for treatment to injuries to his face. His family agreed to release images of the wounded toddler to warn people and also assist the police in tracking down the dog.

Emergency services were called to Birkinhead, in Liverpool, on Monday after reports a child had been bitten by a dog. The boy was walking with his dad on a path between Noctorum Avenue and the Woodchurch estate when he was set upon at around 2.30pm. The boy was rushed to hospital for treatment to injuries to his face and was discharged today. Liverpool Police
Police are now attempting to track down the dog, which is thought to be a stray and is described only as a black lurcher cross type dog.

“As you can see from the pictures, this was a particularly nasty bite on a little boy who was just walking with his dad. Residents should be able to feel safe in the community and as such we treat all incidents of this nature very seriously.
“We are carrying out a number of enquiries in the area to try and trace this dog, and its owner (if it has one). If anyone from the local community has seen this dog, I’d urge you to get in contact.”
