Lawmakers dump PDP for APC in Ondo

Former commissioners, lawmakers dump PDP for APC in Ondo
Membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo state further reduced yesterday as prominent members of the party across the state defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Among the defectors were former commissioners in the Olusegun Mimiko government, former lawmakers and council chairmen.
They included former Commissioner for Adult, Technical and Vocational Training, Kehinde Momoh and Tayo Oluwatuyi, who served as Commissioner for Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Former members of the State House of Assembly among the defectors are Bamido Omogbehin and Oyebo Aladetan.
Erstwhile local government chairmen who also defected included Prince Olu Falolu, Tobi Akinlalu and Bailey Arohunmolase.
Others were Jimoh Esan, Mike Adeyeye, Kasali Obanoyen, Chief Ajani Oladipupo, Yele Akinya, Segun Ogodo, Chief Banji Kuroloja and Chief Ayo Ojomo among others.
Bailey Arohunmolase, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, said they decided to join APC with their followers because PDP did no longer exist in the state.
According to him, the people of the state were already tired of unfulfilled promises from the ruling government in the state.
He said the people were ready to work with the leadership of APC to bring the expected change to the state.
Arohunmolase disclosed that over 5,000 PDP members across 15 local government areas of the state dumped PDP for APC.
Chairman of the party in the state, Isaac Kekemeke, promised to give all members equal right and level playing field to realise their aspirations.
He said the party would put measures in place to ensure victory for APC in the November governorship polls. But the State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Banji Okunomo, described the exit of these politicians as “good riddance to bad rubbish”.
